Dublin is a UNESCO City of Literature and offers the weekend visitor a myriad of choice in museums, galleries, shopping, sight seeing, restaurants, nightlife and theatre.

Fresh Eire Adventures is delighted to offer the Dublin Literary & Gastronomy Tour, a one-day walking tour of Dublin’s most significant literary attractions combined with a tour of the finest gastronomic highlights on offer.

Following a Ulysses-themed breakfast to set the mood, your guide will meet you at the historic Shelbourne Hotel, on St Stephen’s Green at 9.30am to commence a memorable day in the city. 

  • Guided tour with a local Irish literary expert;
  • Short Visit to Trinity College to view The Book of Kells and Long Room;
  • ’Elevenses’ in Bewley’s with a local Dublin poet;
  • Visit to the National Library on historic Kildare Street;
  • Joycean Lunch, including Guinness or wine, in Davy Byrnes;
  • Backstage visit at Abbey or Gate theatre;
  • Afternoon tea at either The Gresham or Wynne’s Hotel;
  • Visit to Writers Museum;
  • Pre theatre dinner, including wine, at Chapter One (Michelin Star);
  • Tickets to theatre production of your choice;
  • Writers and Topics covered will include
James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, William Butler Yeats, John Millington Synge, Bram Stoker, Jonathan Swift, Sean O’Casey, George Bernard Shaw, Brendan Behan, Flann O’Brien, Samuel Beckett, Patrick Kavanagh, Roddy Doyle, Colm Toibin, Joseph O’Connor, Brian Friel, Irish Feminist Writers (eg. (Suggested reading list in advance.)

This is a walking tour although a taxi may be used to transport you from your hotel after lunch to the north side of the city.  Post-theatre taxi, if required, can be arranged but is not included.

Distance covered by foot is less than 2 miles.
